Refund policy

Last updated: 17 September 2026

At LEMA Maternity, every piece is designed with care, comfort and craftsmanship in mind. We want you to feel confident when ordering from us. This policy explains how returns, exchanges and faulty-item claims work.

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (“ECTA”) or other applicable South African law.

Change-of-mind returns

You may request a return of an eligible online purchase within seven days after receiving it.

For a change-of-mind return, the item should be:

- unworn, unused, unwashed and unaltered, except for reasonable inspection or fitting;
- free from perfume, deodorant, makeup, stains, pet hair and odours;
- returned with its original tags attached; and
- returned in its original packaging where reasonably possible.

Please take reasonable care of the item while it is in your possession. We may decline a voluntary return or make a deduction where the item has been used or damaged beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect or fit it, but only where permitted by law.

Items that cannot be returned

The following are not eligible for a voluntary change-of-mind return:

- gift cards;
- personalised or made-to-order products; and
- items damaged, worn, washed or altered after delivery, other than because of a fault.

Sale, discounted, promotional or final-sale items remain covered by any return, cooling-off or defect rights that apply under South African law. A “final sale” label does not remove statutory rights.

Exchanges

We offer size exchanges subject to stock availability. If the requested size is unavailable, you may select another available item or receive any refund to which you are entitled.

For a voluntary size exchange, you are responsible for the direct return-delivery cost and any new delivery cost communicated to you before the exchange is completed.

If the item is faulty, damaged on arrival or different from what you ordered, LEMA Maternity will cover the reasonable return and replacement delivery costs where required by law.

Faulty, damaged or incorrect items

Please inspect your order after delivery and contact us as soon as reasonably possible if it is faulty, damaged or incorrect. Photographs help us assess the issue quickly, but a failure to report it within 48 hours does not remove any statutory right.

Where section 56 of the CPA applies, goods that fail to meet the required quality standards may be returned within six months after delivery, without penalty and at our risk and expense. You may choose a repair, replacement or refund where the law gives you that choice.

To report an issue, email info@lemamaternity.co.za with:

- your order number;
- a description of the issue; and
- clear photographs, where reasonably possible.

How to request a return or exchange

Email info@lemamaternity.co.za within the applicable return period and include your order number, the item concerned and the reason for the request.

We will provide return instructions and the correct return address. Please do not send an item before receiving these instructions, as this may delay identification and processing of the parcel. This administrative requirement does not remove a statutory right to return goods.

We recommend using a tracked delivery service for customer-funded returns. Keep your receipt and tracking information until the return is completed.

Return-delivery costs

For an eligible change-of-mind return under ECTA, you are responsible only for the direct cost of returning the goods.

LEMA Maternity will cover reasonable return costs where the goods are faulty, unsafe, damaged on arrival, materially different from their description or different from what you ordered, where required by law.

Refunds

Once the returned item has been received and inspected, we will notify you of the outcome.

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method. We aim to process them within 5–10 business days, subject to your bank or payment provider’s processing time, and always within the period required by law.

Delivery issues

Please check your delivery address carefully before placing an order and contact us immediately if it needs to be corrected. An address may not be changeable after dispatch, and reasonable redelivery costs caused by an incorrect address may be charged to you where permitted by law.

If tracking shows that a parcel was delivered but you did not receive it, contact us promptly. We will work with the courier to investigate. A courier’s “delivered” status does not automatically remove any responsibility LEMA Maternity may have under applicable law.

Limited-production variations

Some LEMA Maternity pieces are produced in small quantities. Minor variations in fabric tone, texture or finish may occur between batches. A disclosed minor variation that does not materially affect the item’s quality, function or correspondence with its description will not necessarily constitute a defect.
